ABOUT US...
Emanicpated Run Crew (ERC) was set up in 2019 by sisters Denise and Julia Stephenson (@we_run_we_eat) and friend Trojan Gordon (@thebeardedrunner) who were determined to challenge the lack of diversity in grassroots running by creating a virtual space where black and brown runners can support and encourage each other whatever our running goal. We will help you to run your own race and in doing so encourage you to Run Free!
Join ERC on Heylo and stay motivated!
Emancipated Run Crew is a community for people with black and brown heritage, which exists to support and encourage black and brown people to get active. We aim to help people meet (and often exceed!) their running and movement objectives. It really helps when people join if we are able to share their story so far and what they they are hoping to achieve by joining.
ERC has recently moved to Heylo. To join please click on the link below
Please note that you will be required to have a clear photograph of yourself and a complete profile to join the group.

We are lucky enough to have a platform where we are able to speak to members of the running community from all over the world. We want to make sure we create a safe space for all runners to share their running experiences and to allow all voices to be heard. In this video, we meet the Emancipated Run Crew from London, who are a group of Black runners who support and encourage each other with their running journeys. We hand over to members of the crew to explain how the group was set up, what they do, why they love running and to share their experiences. We’d love to hear from you and to be able to share your experiences too. Please feel free to share any useful resources in the comments below to help spread awareness or to help us all play our part in the fight against racism. Set up to tackle the lack of representation of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic runners amongst the traditional running community, ERC aims to provide a safe space where under-represented groups are welcomed and supported on their journey. Building a growing community of people from diverse backgrounds, they, among many others, are starting to change the narrative around running.People & Blogs

Revellers have descended on the streets of Notting Hill to mark the first carnival since 2019. Co-founder of the club Jules Stephenson said: “It (the atmosphere) is electric – everyone is so excited about carnival being back.” Sunday, traditionally “family day”, saw bright and dazzling costumes as the carnival procession made its way through Ladbroke Grove.
