ERC is proud to present Conversations: EMPOWERMENT, REPRESENTATION, COMMUNITY at the National Running Show - 20/21 January 2024.
This year we will be hosting a number of conversions at stand D26 on a range of topics that you will not hear anywhere else.
Come and meet members of the Emancipated Run Crew who will be sharing their stories on how they got involved in running and the impacts of being part of a running community like ERC.
Hear how our members went from couch potatoes and 5k surfers to marathon runners; from injured and out to embarking on their triathlon journeys; female and diversity – representation in ultras, running through menopause, the importance of community to support mental health and more.

Emanicpated Run Crew (ERC) was set up in 2019 by sisters Denise and Julia Stephenson (@we_run_we_eat) and friend Trojan Gordon (@thebeardedrunner) who were determined to challenge the lack of diversity in grassroots running by creating a virtual space where black and brown runners can support and encourage each other whatever our running goal. We will help you to run your own race and in doing so encourage you to Run Free!

Emancipated Run Crew is a community for people with black and brown heritage, which exists to support and encourage black and brown people to get active. We aim to help people meet (and often exceed!) their running and movement objectives. It really helps when people join if we are able to share their story so far and what they they are hoping to achieve by joining.
